After a six-year break, Delta Air Lines will start operating flights between Orlando and Pittsburgh again.

Why Delta Air Lines Relies on Amsterdam Schiphol Hub

Recently, Delta Air Lines-US-based legacy carrier, decided to dust the cobwebs off of a long-abandoned service. Interestingly, it doesn’t operate to or from any of the airline’s major hubs. This busy summer travel season, Delta’s route strategy department has been hard at work planning for the next winter travel season.

Meanwhile, the airline also announced that it would be re-launching non-stop flights between Pittsburgh International Airport and Orlando International Airport. It marks the first time that Delta has joined two major cities non-stop since 2019.

The airline announced Friday that operating seasonal nonstop flights from Pittsburgh International to Orlando on Saturdays throughout the winter travel season between December 20, 2025, and April 11, 2026—according to reports from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

A Valuable Addition To The Airport’s Service Map

The record back in March was set by Pittsburgh International Airport for the number of passengers—it’s transported on flights to Florida. It’s all packed with comforting leisure destinations, beach gateways, and theme parks, combined with pleasing warm weather—appealing to vacations during the winter travel months.

Typically, Pittsburgh Airport’s team also knows Florida’s importance for its operational profile well. In a statement, Joe Rotterdam, the Director of Air Service Development at Pittsburgh International, had the following words to share:

“We know Florida is an incredibly important market for our passengers, and we are offering more options than ever for Pittsburghers to get to the Sunshine State.”

Today, Delta Air Lines so far has become the 5th carrier to begin servicing flights between two cities-alongside Southwest Airlines & Spirit Airlines-offers daily flights. Frontier Airlines ensures a seasonal service during peak travel months. Allegiant Air operates flights to Orlando/Sanford International.

A Deeper Look At This Service’s Specifics

The carrier’s unique peak season flights between Pittsburgh & Orlando operate on Saturday with just one frequency serving destinations heading to Florida. Route from Orlando to Pittsburgh—the flight will operate as Delta Air Lines Flight 5767, departing from Orlando at 13:05 and arriving back in Pittsburgh at 15:25.

In the return direction, flights will depart from Pittsburgh at 09:50 and touch down at 12:20. These services will offer Delta Main Cabin, Delta Comfort+, and Delta First class seats.

What Makes This Service So Interesting?

So far, there are a few things over this new nonstop connection that are somewhat noteworthy. As a legacy carrier, the airline has traditionally catered to business travelers with high-frequency services.

These kinds of once-weekly flights geared mostly at leisure travelers are typically deployed by budget airlines, which look to capture more thin segments of the air travel market. This flight is also unique as making it much more of a point-to-point service like a budget airline would operate.
