American Airlines will expand Admirals Club and launch a new flagship lounge

American Airlines on Wednesday—recently revealed plans to undertake its expansion for the Admirals Club—located at Miami International Airport—MIA. These plans to build a new Flagship Lounge at the airport were also revealed. The only good news for carrier customers is that two projects will nearly double the amount of lounge space for travelers visiting the airport.

Analyzing the last month, American Airlines—its highly anticipated 25,000-square-foot Flagship and Admirals Club lounges at Philadelphia International Airport—PHL at Terminal A West. This stepped into the airline’s fifth Flagship lounge and the ninth American Airlines premium longue globally. Only the newly announced Flagship Longue at MIA brings over the total number of American Airlines longues to ten.

Specifics On American’s MIA Premium Lounge Plans 

Recently, on data, American Airlines has into more construction details and timings that will be revealed later on. These details so far include that the airline is planning to convert the current Flagship longue at MIA—which was opened in 2017—and later expand Admirals Club. 

The brand new flagship longue space ensures future construction, but currently, the longues spaces at MIA are there already—Admirals Club longue—at D15. Both Flagship and Admirals Club lounges at D30.

So far, the flagship Longue is designed with premium amenities and treatments for guests like champagne, greetings upon arrival, menus inspired by local specialties, and à la carte sit-down dining. 

Additionally, the airlines stepped on the new Flagship longue with the already existing larger Admiral Club—adding value, particularly as MIA but a busy international portal for the airlines. It serves 30 million annual customers and operates more than 400 peak daily flights to almost 160 destinations.

According to Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer:

“We’re excited to expand and elevate the premium experience for our Flagship customers and also provide a more spacious and calming environment in our Admirals Club lounges. Our strong partnership with airport leaders and county officials has allowed us to identify solutions that will make our customers’ experience even better, and we’re eager to work with them in building out this enhanced space.”

What Do Flagship Lounges Have To Offer? 

Briefing on the example amenities found in a Flagship Lounge—the recently opened is at PHL last month. It’s like the MIA—in which customers are expected on every element of the new Flagship and Admirals Club lounges—crafted thoughtfully. In fact, it shares a perfect blend of style, comfort, and convenience with classic amenities & services.

The lounges will allow for the creation of thematically distinct zones, called ‘neighborhoods,’ each featuring different and unique offerings. Examples include the following:

  • The lounge area is for relaxing and recharging. Comfortable seating is available. 
  • The bar and dining area are for connecting with others over drinks or a meal for work or relaxation. 
  • Private ‘villas’ will provide the privacy and quiet needed for a mental reset. Includes spa-style shower suites, workstations, and kid-friendly family rooms. 
  • The plans to expand American’s lounge facilities at MIA mark a continued investment in the Miami community and will provide additional commerce and jobs to the local area. According to the carrier, American is the largest private employer in Miami-Dade County, employing more than 14,500 team members at MIA alone.
  • The airline boasts a 35-year legacy of operating at the airport, offering access to 90 unique destinations served exclusively by the airline. This summer, America has booked its largest summer schedule to date from MIA, and the airport functions as one of ten US hubs.
