This airway revolution involved consolidating the old Terminals C and D—transforming them into the advanced terminal facility. This was undertaken by Delta in partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey—PANYNJ.
However, in 2022, the carrier became the sole operator of flights at the new Terminal C. So far the construction began in 2016 and has been ongoing for 6 years. It’s a reliable project that reached a level of completion—which was opened to the customers in 2022.
Cutting-Edge Enhancements Redefine the Passenger Experience at the Terminal
So far, Delta operates more than 220 daily flights from LGA—thus making the airport’s largest airline within newly finished Terminal C, which offers many new technologies and warming hospitality features. The eligible SkyMiles members on TSA precheck—Touchless ID—formerly digital ID. Thus allowing passengers to check bags and clear security checks like facial scans—leaving more time to relax in the terminal.
It works in increasing the accessibility of one of the prime aims for the newly designed and featured terminal—allowing inclusive amenities and comfort for travellers. The newest additions include an outdoor sky deck, interfaith chapel, market pet relief areas, and sensory room—over the mock Delta cabin. All these amenities are within sensory processing disorders, disabilities, and cognitively conditioned passengers acclimate for a good flying experience before take-off.

Although LGA houses a prominent Delta Sky Club location with the architectural touches that evoke New York City—since the 20th century, harlequin-patterned screens and rich, warm metals fill the 34,000-square-foot (3,160-square-meter) space, which is capable of seating nearly 600 in luxury. The 2024 club expansion also features an all-weather Sky Deck, a second bar, and seating for more than 100 guests.
LaGuardia’s Terminal C Impresses with Both Functionality and Artistic Flair
A recent update to PANYNJ assured the facility was presented with the Forbes Travel Guide’s Verified Air Travel Award. In fact, Forbes named LGA as one of the best airports in the USA—based on its survey of 5,000 hospitality and travel experts—some of the most well-travelled fliers of the Guide.
Meanwhile, the airport has also been recognized at the Skytrax World Airport Awards—thus placing sixth for the 2025 Best Air in the Airport award. It’s within the new Terminal C—curated for collaborations with Queens Museum—undoubtedly contributed over.
The newest terminal——pendant lights made from salvaged city skylights and pieces include Rashid Johnson’s super-tall mosaic and Mariam Ghani’s ceramic tribute to the language spoken in the area. Furthermore, Aliza Nisenbaum’s portrait of airport and Delta employees is a cultural highlight for New Yorkers.
